For so many of us, Covid19 restrictions have forced a move to online communities, sharing and communications. With the restrictions on public gatherings, Big Scrub Landcare has not only taken to online events, like our recent Saving our Rainforests from Fire panel discussions, we have also turned to connecting with our members and broader community on socials (or social media as many would associate with).
Time, input and expertise offered by Charles Hunter and Chris Byrne has been the catalyst to refining our social media platforms and messaging to save the Big Scrub!
Rainforest and birdwatching enthusiast, Charles Hunter has combined his love for the northern rivers region and marketing experience to help advise on all things social. Charles is an avid bird watcher, conservationist and freelance writer and has been visiting the Big Scrub to bird watch for 20 years. Charles has travelled extensively across Australia and South-East Asia in his pursuit of watching birds. His most recent focus is on the Indonesian Spice Islands where he is working with a group of global conservationists developing a model for flora and fauna conservation for islands. When he’s not bird watching Charles works as an e-commerce consultant in fashion and grocery. Charles is based in Bronte, Australia though regularly frequents the Big Scrub.
Big Scrub Landcare is also fortunate to work with Chris Byrne who is generously volunteering his time to help manage social media. Chris has a background in public relations, social media and tennis coaching. It was a tour of the rainforest at Cape Byron Distillery that inspired Chris to reach out in search of opportunities to help conserve the Big Scrub rainforest.
