New Events and Communications Manager appointments at Big Scrub Landcare

Big Scrub Landcare’s President Dr Tony Parkes AO today announced the appointments of two new part-time managers following a change in the role of Kirralee Donovan from Manager to a volunteer role as Manager, Projects.

The two new appointments are Tess King to the role of Events Manger and Chris Byrne to the role of Communications Manager.

Dr Parkes said he was thrilled to see the team grow at such an exciting time for the group. “With our Science Saving Rainforests project reaching critical stages and interest in rainforest restoration continuing to surge in the region, I’m pleased to welcome Tess and Chris to the team,” Parkes said. “The addition of two new members to the team will help us share news of our work and plan another successful Big Scrub Rainforest Day, continuing the event’s 23-year history.”

Tess has a background in education and environmental science, and has a passion for environmental conservation, sustainability and public education. She has been working in the community education space over the past six months to promote sustainable living practices, as well as organising community events.

Chris is a communications professional with experience from technology and sport organisations in Sydney and New York. He has been assisting with Big Scrub Landcare’s social media and communications strategies in a volunteer capacity over the past six months, but now moves into the role of Communications Manager on a dedicated basis.

Chris Byrne joins Big Scrub Landcare as Communications Manager.

Both roles are part time with Tess available on Fridays and Chris working Tuesdays and Fridays.
